has anyone had any major engine problems with their new honda self propelled 5.5 hp lawn mower?

i got one about 2 mo. ago after 1 mo. it started running poorly. i took it in and they say it has a faulty intake valve. seems unlikely, but i know it isn't the fuel, spark plug, or dirty air filter.
i'll let you know asap if that is it.

you say it seems unlikely to be a faulty valve - are you a service tech & who told you this. First place I would look at would be carb but you saying its running poorly doesn't really explain what its doing.
