Motorcycle anti theft in FL?

I know florida has one of the highest rates of motorcycle theft..whats the best way to protect your bike if you dont have a garage?
Richard i also have another set of questions
1. is the cycle theft down there as bad as ive heard

I got the security etching on my bike when I bought it in florida and my girlfriend put Lojack on hers. A good motorcycle lock and a cemented in anchor point would also be a good deterrent. If your out bar hopping or eating, try and sit where you can

Police, deputies keep watch on tamer Biketoberfest

DAYTONA BEACH -- Police Sgt. Joe Heller's marked patrol car stuck out like a sore thumb as he cruised down Main Street.

This was Wednesday, and the party was just getting started. Middle-aged bikers leaned up against buildings, while a group took pictures by some sweet rides as vendors set up shop for the 19th annual Biketoberfest.

"They come down here to have a good time, not to raise hell," Heller said as his squad car passed hundreds of motorcycles that had already lined one of the beachside's most iconic streets.

On Thursday, the event officially kicked off, as music blared, scantily-clad women danced on bars and beer flowed from the tap. But for the most part the participants maintained order.

Heller, who has been with the Police Department for 20 years, was an officer when Biketoberfest was in its infancy and notorious for being a little rowdy. Time has tempered the event, which is now spread out across the county, Heller said. An estimated 125,000 bikers are expected to attend this year's Biketoberfest.
