In the 1920s the automobile was still a relatively new technological advancement just as are renewable energy and electric cars today. Enter the 1920s Republican Tea Pot Dome Scandal. Until Watergate this was the nation's greatest scandal. It occurred during Republican President Warren G. Harding's first and only term. Tea Pot Dome in Wyoming was a U.S. Navy oil field that Harding's secretary of the interior, Albert Fall, had leased to private oil companies. He leased taxpayer oil! Ultimately the Supreme Court ruled Tea Pot Dome a fraud with Secretary Fall and at least one other government official implicated and sent to prison.
